Relieve headaches
How many times have you heard someone
say, 'I've got a got a headache'? It's one of the
most common problems in society today, yet a headache,
particularly the recurring kind, shouldn't be taken
lightly. It might well be the symptom of some underlying
imbalance or deeper problem.
It's little wonder that the consumption
of analgesics in Australia is so widespread. It's
a symptom of our modern lifestyle to 'pop a pill'
for convenience and temporary relief without ever
getting to the real root of the problem.
Unfortunately, prolonged use of these
medications can cause long-term side effects.
If you're suffering from headaches,
it could be the result of any one or a combination
of some of the following problems:
- Emotional: created by emotional
stress, anxiety and worry leading to an increase
in tension in the neck and shoulder muscles
- Occupational: from sitting in one
position with yuor head bent over; also from poor
posture and working conditions common with office
workers and students; bad lighting; also physical
overwork and tightening of neck and shoulder muscles
- Poor eating habits: caused by eating
foods you may have intolerance or allergy to; irregular
eating habits; constipation
- Hormonal imbalances: such as Pre-Menstrual
Syndrome (PMS)
- Physical trauma: causing damage
to the structural or connective tissue of the neck;
and/or arthritis; disc degeneration leading to pinching
of the spinal nerves
- Liver malfunction: where the liver
is not able to purify or detoxify blood efficiently
- Genetic: problems such as inherited
tendency towards migraine
- Weather conditions: high humidity;
cold, windy days
- Over-acidity of the stomache
- High blood pressure
- Sinus complaints.
If you describe a headache that occurs
at your temple region, we understand that this is
a different cause from one which may occur at the
back of your head. Correspondingly, each type of headache
will be treated according to its individual cause.
Acupuncture treatment is effective
for most common headaches including migraine, cluster,
period-related, stress/tension and muscle/tension
headaches.
What's more, acupuncture works in a
preventative capacity as well.
How does it work? Acupuncture can work
in a therapeutic and preventative manner by re-harmonising
your body's imbalances. Your treatment can actually
begin without you even having a headache. After all,
prevention is better than cure.
What a relief! A drug free alternative
to the pain you've been experiencing. Yet it's so
simple, so effective and has been proven over thousands
of years. Acupuncture works because it puts your system
back on track by correcting your body's energy imbalances.
